Domain Name Servers (DNS)Transfer of an existing domain name(s) can be done easily. I will handle the process for you. I will send the transfer request to Network Solutions (SRSplus) once your new account is activated. You should keep the service at the present site while waiting for Network Solutions to complete the transfer. I will provide you with all you need to mirror the site. All e-mail and web pages will still be accessed from your old site. When Network Solutions receives the template, they will generate an acknowledgment request and send it via e-mail to the current administrative contact of the domain. Once the administrative contact acknowledges the transfer, Network Solutions will update their records, and then your old site will disappear as your new site takes its place. All Internet providers must update their records (DNS tables) to reflect the new site's location. This is called propagation which is usually completed in 72 hours, during which time visitors may be transferred to either site. At the end of the 72 hours, you should contact the previous host to have them delete the old domain from their records and update their DNS records. New Domain Name Registration GuidelinesYour domain name must consist of alphabetic characters, numeric characters, or the minus sign "-". Other characters are not accepted. A domain name cannot begin or end with a minus sign. No more than 67 characters are allowed. Domain Names are not case sensitive. Although no longer regulated, the accepted usage has been to use .com for a commercial business. Non-profit businesses use .org, and .net has been for a network-related business. |
